MAREILLE MERCK LARUS
The guitarist Mareille Merck, who originally comes from the rough Baltic Sea coast, has been living in Switzerland since 2016 and has earned a permanent place in the local jazz scene. With Florian Bolliger (double bass) and Janic Haller (drums), she has found two companions who are as creative as they are reliable, to bring her compositions to life. The three call themselves LARUS, like the seagull, and have already been nominated for the ZKB Jazz Prize (2021), invited to the Suisse Diagonales Jazz Tour (2021/22) and released their debut album 2021 «Fadenschlag» on Mons Records.
Two years later (02/23) the second studio album "Stille Wasser" followed, again a co-production with SRF 2 Kultur. Mareille, who has already shared the stage with greats like John McLaughlin or Michael Leauge, weaves characteristic influences from fingerstyle techniques and rock areas with clear jazzy structures in a trio context.

The band sees making music together as a journey. In their luggage: courage, a thirst for adventure and a willingness to take risks. The companions: telling compositions and eventful improvisations.
«The trio plays audibly on a common basis that has grown, glides safely through the depths of the sea and surfs the waves of the open sea just as naturally.» (Steff Rohrbach, Jazz n' More 03-04/23). Just as "Larus", the seagull, flies over the most diverse landscapes, Mareille Merck, Florian Bolliger and Janic Haller also carry us with their music over busy beaches, wide fields or rocky coasts.
